Hi there!

I'm Nim - it's nice to meet you and thanks for stopping by my blog; The Nutty Seamstress.


I'm also a secret fabric magpie and a fabric shopaholic.  Knowing I always have something special in my stash waiting to be created into something special and personalised always keeps my 'sewjo' motivated.

I've been sewing for the last 5 years now.  I learnt some of the basics as a teenager, but it's only been in the past 5 years that I've taken this craft up again.  My skills have have been gradually improving year on year through one on one guidance by the lovely Ellie B Jewels, but also by learning through the experiences shared by others through Instagram, blogs etc...


A little bit more about me...

My day time job is that I'm a product/technology developer by day for one of the largest chocolate and snacking companies in the world.  I do love it.  It's chocolate after all.  But I do enjoy coming home and getting lost in whatever project I'm working on to decompress from the day.

You may also be wondering why I've called the blog 'The Nutty Seamstress'.  The blog and my Instagram profile, @nimbonuts both stem from my sister's childhood nickname for me.  Neither of us can remember how it originated, but it's lasted forever and as it's my sister who champions my inner creator, it just seems appropriate that this is my tag.

I'm hoping that you'll enjoy my creative journey and that you will be inspired to embark on your own.

Knitting.  Whenever I think of this craft I am taken down memory lane to a red velvet sofa, me as a child, sat with a Peter and Jane book, practicing my reading whilst my Mum knits away. Wrap Dress: Vogue V8379

I love a Wrap Dress.  I particularly love a Jersey Wrap Dress.  It's the epitome of comfort.  A secret PJ if you will.  A classic that is flattering, yet a bit of a Chameleon allowing me to transition from office to bar with little to no effort.  It's my magic dress. I first saw this pattern, V8379 on one of my favourite blogs; Emily Hallman Designs.  I love Emily's blogs as she is an exceptional sewer, pays attentions to the finer details and likes to make things pretty.  A maker that appeals to the perfectionist within.  Her blog is somewhat of a sewists bible, so when I saw her versions of this dress I just had to try it out for myself. Love Life: We are Knitters Dragon Fly XXL Blanket

My birthday, if I can, is a month long celebration in February.  I am not one of those people that hates their birthday.  What's the point.  It will come round each year like clockwork and rather morn for the earlier years I start the new year as I mean to carry on; with positivity and promise. A big event for this year is that I have bought a new build property.  A dream home if you will, because it is a spacious 2 bed flat, in the city centre (essential as I am a city girl at heart) and makes me feel extremely grown up.  Because of this I have been determined to have "grown up" art in the flat.  And so for the past few months, I've been scouring the art galleries to figure out what type of art speaks to me.
