Bat Wraps & Joey Pouches

With goals all set, it was going to be full steam ahead... fabric was washed, pressed & ready for cutting.  However everything took a pause when I saw the tragedy of the bushfires in Australia and the impact it was having on natural wildlife.  It was heart wrenching to see. I had only been in Australia 6 months earlier and was privileged to have had my first encounter with Ozzy wildlife.  So having had this experience and seeing the bushfires, I had to do something. I started off with a donation of money, but this just didn't seem to be enough and it was only through a bit of searching and reading about those on the front line fighting the bushfires that I found the Animal Rescue Craft Guild.  Here I learned how I could contribute in a different way using my sewing skills. They (@animalrescuecraftguild) provided all the patterns and instructions to make much needed items for animals that had been rescued and needed re-housing.  I just needed to provide ...

Gotta Have Goals

For as long as I can remember, I'm one of those people that likes to feel a sense of accomplishment with what they do in their spare time.  I'm a goal setter and the start of 2020 is no different.  However I want to start this new decade in a different way. For the past couple of years, I've focused on building skills and participating in Instagram Sewing challenges.  Challenges, where I've often ended up making things for the sake of the challenge.  Whilst I've banked many skills through that experience, in hindsight it was quite a waste. So this year I'm vowing to do better. A couple of days ago I found an article on the spring/summer fashion forecast for 2020, written by Cosmopolitan.  I was so inspired that my sewing goals materialised from them (see images from Cosmopolitan.com below).   So what is the goal I hear you ask?  Well the plan is to build a capsule wardrobe trying to use as many of the colours and trends identified in the forecast....
