Bat Wraps & Joey Pouches

With goals all set, it was going to be full steam ahead... fabric was washed, pressed & ready for cutting.  However everything took a pause when I saw the tragedy of the bushfires in Australia and the impact it was having on natural wildlife.  It was heart wrenching to see.

I had only been in Australia 6 months earlier and was privileged to have had my first encounter with Ozzy wildlife.  So having had this experience and seeing the bushfires, I had to do something.

I started off with a donation of money, but this just didn't seem to be enough and it was only through a bit of searching and reading about those on the front line fighting the bushfires that I found the Animal Rescue Craft Guild.  Here I learned how I could contribute in a different way using my sewing skills.

They (@animalrescuecraftguild) provided all the patterns and instructions to make much needed items for animals that had been rescued and needed re-housing.  I just needed to provide the fabric.

And what a scrap and fabric stash busting exercise this was.

It allowed me to use fabric that I had purchased a long time ago and had no clue on what I wanted to do with it and I was so happy that it could actually be used for a good cause.

I ended up making 10 Bat Wraps, 4 Joey Day and Night hanging pouches and 2 handmade pouches with a few extra liners.  I hope that they give some comfort to those animals caught up in this tragedy.
